Octavia is a multiskilled seasoned professional and registered as a psychologist, with the HPCSA (0051357 categories Counselling & Educational) in private practice. At the early stages of her career, she served as an academic and advanced to various senior administration positions in the higher education sector before venturing to consulting and private practice. She has also served in various governance roles in higher education and in the non-profit sector. Through consulting assignments, she has also been exposed to the inner workings of the South African public sector as well as the international non-governmental sector. As a registered psychologist, she has delivered therapeutic interventions to individuals, dealing with issues that she writes about, and has designed and delivered a number of training interventions for groups to help people struggling with specific challenges acquire skills to help them become the best that they can be. In 2020 she published a book on Workplace Bullying: A South African Perspective – A practical Guide for preventing and handling workplace bullying – ISBN 978 -0-9947008-7-2 published by Rosslyn Press.
